JONATHAN LEVI

Digital + Brand Designer

Only satisfied in a challenging environment that will allow me to grow as a designer, thinker, and problem solver while utilizing the technical and conceptual skills that I continue to craft. I find true gratification when immersing myself into complex problems within different industries in search of a simple solution. Upon starting my agency career as a visual designer, I have expanded my skillset by taking on a strategic and user experience role within an award winning creative team. Professional design tools in which I am proficient include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Fireworks, and the Invision Prototyping App. Additionally, I have a working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery, as I continue to improve my front-end development skills.

Experience

Designer at Squeaky

November 2013 – Current

While with Squeaky I have had the opportunity to lead diverse projects including the entire redesign of IHadCancer.com, which won the 2016 Webby for best community site. Primarily working on responsive websites and web applications, I love the challenge of maintaining a consistent experience throughout multiple devices. Starting in 2013 as a junior visual designer I have rapidly expanded my skillset and leadership abilities by wearing many hats and being thrown right into the fire, as one does at a smaller agency. I quickly took on a client-facing role assisting the sales and strategy teams in articulating the creative direction of projects. While my passion for visual design remains thoroughly intact, I have taken on a strategy and user experience role allowing me to better understand, communicate, and execute projects from conception to completion.

Graphic Design Intern at Neverware

August 2013 – November 2013

I was brought on board to polish an emerging tech company's visual identity as a design intern in the fall of 2013. The original plan was to create a comprehensive style guide along with marketing materials for the company that was set to make a big step into the market following their series A funding. Through extensive interviews with leadership, sales, marketing, and engineers along with customer surveys I developed an in-depth understanding of the company’s products, history, and goals. It became immediately clear that there was a strong dissonance between the brand and its visual identity. My time at Neverware yielded a redesigned visual identity, brand styleguide, library of custom iconography and illustrations, marketing templates (one-four pagers), presentation deck templates, office stationery, and infographics.

Studio Intern at ImageArt Studio

February 2012 – May 2012

My first professional design experience included job shadowing, studio projects, research assistance and project presentation at ImageArt studio in central Tel Aviv. The studio works on web, branding, print, and packaging design for clients all over Israel. My role at the studio included assisting with the design of packaging destined for the international market.

Creative Director at Line&Sky

May 2009 – August 2012

As the founder and Artistic Director and founder, I designed graphic T-shirts, hoodies and sunglasses, which were sold in stores, online, and on university campuses across Canada. Garments were screen-printed, airbrushed and embroidered. Additionally, I was responsible for product sourcing, marketing design, and hiring sales representatives. The experience was tremendously valuable to my career, as it enabled me to discover that my true passion lay within graphic design.
